Birth of John Birch. A missionary to China, he became embroiled in espionage, and during the period when Chiang Kai-shek was active. After the war he was brutally murdered while on an intelligence mission. Not wanting trouble with China, the U.S. witheld facts about the murder. When they leaked out, the John Birch Society was formed in an attempt to bring out truths hidden from the public by our government.
