Matthew Bridges (1800 to 1894)
He would crown Jesus.
Matthew Bridges was born at Malden, England. Becoming a clergyman in the Church of England and in 1848 published a book against the Church of Rome, but coming under the influence of the Oxford Movement, he followed John Henry Newman and others into the Roman church. We remember him for some wonderful hymns, especially "Crown Him with Many Crowns."
