We are living in an hour of deep spiritual confusion, where truth is trampled, wickedness is celebrated, and the name of God is mocked in the public square. Our nation is not merely in political turmoil; it is in spiritual freefall.
And yet, we are not without hope. Throughout history, when the people of God have cried out in repentance and desperation, our Lord has answered. In these challenging times, we need another supernatural move of God—heaven-sent, Holy Spirit-driven, Christ-exalting revival that begins in the Church and leads to spiritual awakening across the nation.
This is why I am so deeply encouraged by the nearly 500,000 prayer warriors across America who are praying at AWAKEAmerica.com. Their prayers are not scripted words—they are personal, urgent, and full of hope.
Here are seven heartfelt prayers for revival rising from Bible-believing Christians across the nation. I pray they encourage you to draw near to the throne of grace and inspire you in your own prayers for the next Great Awakening in our nation.

1. A Prayer of Personal Repentance
“Father, forgive me. I repent and pray You’ll teach me to love as Jesus did.” – Aurilee, Florida
If we want to see another Great Awakening in our nation, believers must first wake up from their own spiritual slumber. As we see in Joel 2:12, the Lord calls to His people, “Return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” God invites us to draw near to Him in genuine repentance—laying down our idols, confessing our sins, and seeking Him with undivided hearts. This is where true spiritual revival begins.
Repentance isn’t a one-time moment—it’s a continual posture of surrender. Joel 2:13 speaks of rending our hearts, not just our garments—a reminder that outward actions mean little without inward transformation. Awakening, if it is to come, will be born out of our own brokenness before a holy God.
The good news is that God delights to restore us. His Word assures us that when we turn back to Him, we will experience “times of refreshing” from His presence. Do you long to experience this kind of spiritual refreshment? The journey begins in true repentance before the Lord.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” — Acts 3:19

2. A Prayer for the Church’s Renewal
“Father God, I repent for my offenses toward You and for the sins of the Church. Awaken Your people! Awaken our nation! Return us to the cross and to our first love!” – Anne, Tennessee
In the days of Nehemiah, revival didn’t begin with victory over Israel’s enemies—it began when God’s people were cut to the heart by His Word (Nehemiah 8:9; 9:1–3). They wept. They fasted. They repented. It was a move of God that started with brokenness and led to spiritual renewal.
If we long to see a mighty work of God in our day, we need to pray for the Church to be purified, strengthened, and once again empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Church cannot effectively reach the culture if it conforms to the culture. We cannot call the world to repentance while tolerating compromise from the pulpit. We cannot proclaim the power of the cross if we have forsaken our first love. What the Church needs is not more strategies, but more surrender—not more relevance, but more reverence. Not entertainment—but an encounter with the living Christ.
Oh, how we cry out for pastors to preach the whole counsel of God with boldness, for believers to walk in holiness, and for the fire of the Holy Spirit to fall afresh on His people! Only then will the Church be salt and light in this dark world.

3. A Prayer for Godly Leadership
“Lord, wake us up to our need for You. Convict pastors to speak the truth in the pulpit. Forgive us for not teaching our children righteousness. Raise up godly leaders, lead our country, and enact righteous laws.” – Wanda, Georgia
Throughout the Bible, we see how the spiritual health of a nation’s leaders can impact the course of that nation. When King Josiah discovered the Book of the Law, he tore his robes, repented before the Lord, and led the nation back to righteousness (2 Kings 22:11-13). But when kings hardened their hearts and turned from God's statutes, judgment and destruction soon followed.
A nation that forgets God does not drift toward freedom—it descends into chaos and spiritual darkness. This is why I plead with the Lord—not just for politicians, but for pastors, parents, and all who wield influence in our nation. I pray for God to raise up men and women who fear Him more than they fear public opinion—leaders who will humble themselves, seek wisdom from above (James 3:17), and lead with integrity of heart (Psalm 78:72).
If righteousness exalts a nation, then let us pray with urgency for those who will champion righteousness, because true leadership begins in the fear of the Lord.

4. A Prayer for Families
“Father, I am standing on Your Word and asking for a great awakening to happen in our land! Turn our children and grandchildren’s hearts to You!” – Ellen, Texas
I believe the frontlines of spiritual battle are not in Washington, D.C., or Hollywood—they’re in our own living rooms and around our kitchen tables. Satan knows that if he can destroy the home, he can destroy society. That’s why we’re seeing the breakdown of the family today. And so, if we long to see revival, perhaps the most powerful place to begin is in our own homes.
How do we begin to pray for a move of God in our homes and neighborhoods? Pray for fathers to rise up as spiritual leaders. Pray for mothers to be steadfast in truth. Pray for children to be anchored in the unchanging Word of God.
Revival isn’t something we can outsource to others. It begins with the souls under our own roofs. You can ask the Lord to fill your home with His presence. You can pray over your loved ones by name. You can stand in the gap for prodigal sons, wayward grandchildren, and fractured marriages. With God’s help, your household can become a lighthouse for the Gospel. So, let us plant seeds for the Gospel in our families now, so that, by God’s grace, they might bear fruit for generations.

5. A Prayer for Our Schools
“Heavenly Father, we need You in our schools. Give teachers and students courage to stand up and lead. Keep all our children safe and protect them from evil.” – Linda, Arizona
The battle for the next generation is raging—not with weapons of war, but with worldviews. The classroom has become a battlefield for truth, and our children and grandchildren are squarely in the crosshairs. But we can cry out to the Lord of heaven to protect their minds, shield their hearts, and anchor their souls in truth.
Just as God enabled Daniel to stood firm in Babylon—faithful in a godless culture, unwavering in his convictions—so too can He enable the next generation to be filled with courage and anchored in His Word. Let us pray that they would be like Josiah, who sought the Lord in his youth; like Mary, who took God at His word; like Timothy, who knew the Scriptures from a young age; like Jeremiah, who heard God’s call in his youth.
So let us pray—for teachers and administrators who fear God, for students who love God with not only their hearts but their minds, and for God to raise up a remnant who will not bow to the idols of this age.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” – Psalm 32:8

6. Prayer for Nationwide Spiritual Awakening
“Father God, we praise Your holy name. We pray that a revival through the power of Your Holy Spirit takes place in this nation and around the world.” – Scott and Susan, Ohio
No policy, no politician, no program can redeem a soul—only Jesus can do that. If we long to see a true and lasting spiritual awakening in our nation, it’s time to shift our hope away from man-made solutions and turn to the One who alone has the power to save.
When Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, the Bible tells us that people were “cut to the heart” and cried out, “What shall we do?” (Acts 2:37). That kind of response can’t be manufactured—it’s the work of the Holy Spirit: piercing, convicting, and awakening dead hearts.
We can pray for such a movement of God in our time: for scales to fall from spiritually blind eyes, for hardened hearts to be broken, and for multitudes to fall on their knees in surrender to Jesus Christ. Let us cry to God for the Gospel to go forth in power in our neighborhoods, schools, courthouses, and across our very nation.
This is our greatest need: not just national reform, but spiritual rebirth; not just better systems, but transformed hearts. And, by God’s grace, that change can begin with us—humbled, surrendered, and asking for His mercy.
“They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God . . . And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” – Acts 2:46-47
Revival Begins with You and Me
Revival is not something we can manufacture or control. It is the sovereign work of God—an act of His mercy and grace that begins in the hearts of His people. True revival starts within the Church and within each of us, as we turn back to God in humility and repentance.
