Who You Can Become
By David Chadwick

One of my dad’s favorite expressions was, “Son, God doesn’t look at who you are, but who you can become.”

Dad constantly reminded me that God changed the name Jacob, which means “trickster,” to Israel, “a prince of God” (Genesis 32:22-32). Jesus looked at Simon, a name that could be translated as being wishy-washy like a dove, to Peter, which means “the rock”(Matthew 16:18).

Dad reminded me that Jesus sees the unlocked human potential that he placed in all of us. “Let God give you a new name,” he would often say to me.

Do you feel stuck today? If so, seek a name change. Not literally, but figuratively. See the person Jesus wants you to be. Refuse to stay stuck in your present situation.

Jesus desires to use you in ways you never imagined (Ephesians 3:20).

Believe it! And become the person God calls you to be.
