Friends Are Like Elevators
By David Chadwick

Dad knew the importance of friends. He constantly quoted 1 Corinthians 15:33 (ESV): “Bad company ruins good morals.” He wanted this truth embedded in our minds.

But Dad also said something associated with this verse that I’ve never forgotten: “You all need to know that your friends are like elevators. They will either take you up or down.”

Dad gave us kids some wise advice. Good friends can lift you up like no one else. Bad ones can bring you down like no one else.

My wife, Marilynn, and I have passed Dad’s insightful counsel on to our kids. We now see them passing it on to our grandkids.

We are so grateful that they are! Bad company does corrupt good morals.

And friends are like elevators. They will either take you up…

Or bring you down.

Live in-tune with the heartbeat of God!

  • What’s the right way to live life?
  • How can I be a great husband, even when times are hard?
  • Is there some way to get my kids to listen to me?
