Air Attack
By David Chadwick

During World War I, trench warfare was used by the Allied and German forces alike. Both sides dug deep trenches facing one another, making it virtually impossible for either side to advance and win the battle. If soldiers arose from their trenches to move forward, they would be mowed down by machine guns.

It was a classic standoff. Victory for either side was impossible.

That is, until planes were armed with bombs. When bombs were dropped, soldiers were forced to leave their trenches and be exposed to machine gun fire.

The side with the best air attacks eventually won the war.

The same is true in the Christian’s war against the enemy. After putting on the full armor of God, Christians are commanded to be “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18 ESV).

Prayer must permeate every aspect of a believer’s life. It’s to be done at all times… with all prayer… with all perseverance… for all the saints.

To overpower your enemy, you must have an air attack through prayer. Prayer bombs the enemy’s trenches. It weakens his hold on you.

Prayer also unleashes the Spirit of God to fight for you. His strength is greater than the evil one’s.

Therefore, continue to drop prayer bombs on the enemy. At some point, he will be forced to leave his trenches. His lies will be exposed.

The enemy is then easily defeated. And you’ve learned how to fight future battles from victory, not for victory.

Don’t forget the power of prayer in your air attack against the enemy.

It’s often the difference between victory and being stuck in a standoff.
