How to Get God’s Power - Daily Hope with Rick Warren - May 24, 2025
Living a fulfilled life requires surrendering to God's power, which is not just about talking about faith but living it out. By praying, taking risks to obey God, and persevering through challenges, individuals can tap into the limitless potential of God's power and experience transformation in their lives.
“For the kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.”1 Corinthians 4:20 (NLT)
To live a fulfilled life, you have to live by God’s power.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 4:20, “For the kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power” (NLT).
You were never meant to live a fulfilled and abundant life by relying on yourself. God uses and blesses those who are dependent upon him and surrendered to him. And he is able to do more than you can ever imagine!
But you first have to live by his power. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” (NLT).
So how do you get God’s power in your life? There are three ways.
You get God’s power by praying.
If you don’t have any power in your life, that could mean you’re not praying. Prayer and power go together. James 5:16 says, “The earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and wonderful results” (NLT).
You get God’s power by taking risks to obey him.
When you take a risk to do what God tells you to do, even when it’s hard or unpopular, even when it may cost you, even when it doesn’t make sense, even when nobody else is doing it—God will pour out his power in your life.
You get God’s power by not giving up.
Don’t give up! In order for God to grow your faith, he often tests it. When you’re going through difficulties or delays or dead ends or despair or discouragement, God is teaching you to trust him. Hang on—and watch how he blesses you!
God can do more in your life in one week than you can do in an entire lifetime. That’s why it’s never too late to surrender to God. You might say, “I’m too old. I’ve had too many problems! I’ve done too many wrong things.” No. It’s never too late to turn to God and begin living by his power. He’s waiting to give it to you!
