This is one of the coolest battle rounds in history when the ‘Folsom Prison’ battle duet on The Voice has the judges on their feet. With infectious energy and guitars in hand, Austin Montgomery squared off with Tanner Fusell in one of the best renditions of Johnny Cash’s hit song, “Folsom Prison Blues.”

The performance had the audience roaring with cheers. The pair took turns singing and showing off their personalities. Tanner showcased his southern rock appeal and deep voice, while Austin used his gritty voice to add a unique sound to his performance.

Judge Camila Cabello applauded the battle and added, “That was like an awards show performance! It was so fun to watch! I’ll be honest, I’m not familiar with this song. At first, I was like, ‘Oh, this is cool!”

Blake Shelton said the performance was so outstanding that it would be a tough decision to decide who would win this round. Personally, I think these two should perform together more often or even start their own band after they finish their season on The Voice. They definitely nailed what country music sounds like. Other viewers who watched online added comments of how impressed they were at the performance.

One viewer touched on the idea of the pair becoming a duo, “These two should become a duo.  They would totally crush it.  I would pay to see them perform live.” Another viewer seemed to be on Team Austin: “Austin is really in a league of his own —  his range and tone are perfection, and there is no one like him in the competition. Their voices complimented each others' very well — and both are showmen.”

No matter who wins this round of The Voice, we know God has blessed both of these men with incredible musical talent. This certainly won’t be the last time we hear any of them. They have a great future in music!
