Finally, the last key is to be diligent in our work regardless of the circumstances. Sometimes we feel like we are trapped in a bad situation, so we ask God to remove us, or to make the situation better, but it seems like God is not moving. In these times, God can use us to witness to those around us. Scripture tells us:
"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men" (Colossians 3:23).
Even if we have difficult circumstances, we are called to do our best work with due diligence wherever we are planted to honor the Lord. In these times, maybe our prayer should be:
Father, I ask for your strength and guidance so that I can do my best work even in these circumstances until you see fit to move me. Help me to see opportunities around me to witness to coworkers, clients, and management. Help me to have an attitude of gratitude toward your provision of a job even in trying situations. Amen.
At other times, we may have a great position and long to see it continue and grow. If the Lord has placed you there in his will, then he will want to establish that work for his honor:
"And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands" (Psalm 90:17).
Our prayer in this situation might be:
Father, you have placed me in a job where there is a need for growth. I pray that you establish the work of my hands for your glory. Lead me and protect me so that my job can expand and my ministry can grow. Amen.
