The beloved and patriotic song ‘God Bless America’ was written by Irving Berlin during World War I. Irving Berlin wrote the song in 1918 while he was serving in the U.S. Army in New York. It was the signature song of Kate Smith, who performed the most famous rendition through the years.
Irving Berlin brought ‘God Bless America’ back to popularity again before World War II. This patriotic song inspired the nation then, and it continues to do so today.
