Reba McEntire’s Upbeat ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ Lyric Video Delivers

Updated Apr 04, 2024

Everyone’s time on Earth is limited. It’s simply a momentary stop, with eternity awaiting all. As ironic as it may be, death is a part of life. It’s something that everyone will experience at one time or another. Sadly, most people’s lives have already been impacted by death, either by the passing of a friend or a family member.

However, after that time on Earth has expired, everyone will find themselves spending eternity in one of two places. For those who follow Christ and adhere to His teachings and commands, death is not something to fear. Instead, passing from this world into eternity can almost be something to embrace.

In a clip posted on YouTube, the Queen of Country Music, Reba, performed “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” a tune that is a favorite of many. It’s about anticipating the moment when they leave this world and proceed to their eternal home.

“Swing low, sweet chariot

Coming for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot

Coming for to carry me home”

However, instead of performing the familiar song in a way people have heard hundreds of times before, Reba makes it her own. She increases the song’s tempo, making it an upbeat, fast-paced, and joyous tune about making it heaven. It’s exactly the kind of move you would expect from such a seasoned and professional performer. Prior to her vocal performance, understanding how well-known the song is, she encourages the audience to join in with her.

Also, for those watching who don’t already know the words to the song about making your way to heaven, the lyrics are shown on the bottom of the screen throughout the clip. Reba’s performance perfectly captures the joy and happiness that will be present in the moment when we finally make it to heaven!

Psalm 105:2 “Let your voice be sounding in songs and melody; let all your thoughts be of the wonder of his works.”
