Life is not easy or even fair. Sure, there are happy, joyous occasions and reasons for celebration throughout life. But it’s certainly not all rainbows and roses, but it was never promised to be that way. Jesus Christ was perfect in every conceivable and possible way, and He was unjustly, brutally tortured and eventually put to death.

There will be instances and circumstances that test and stretch our faith. We might even be pushed to what we believe to be our very limits. Worries and concerns will likely crop up, causing us to question and wonder about God’s whereabouts, purpose, and role amid the struggle. But even when we are weary and feel like throwing in the towel, He is faithful.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll, in the official video for “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” sing about times when we feel like giving up and when it may be difficult to lift our hands and voices in praise. It’s a beautiful and gritty song about real life, about the situations in which many people find themselves.

“I’ll bring my hard-fought, heartfelt
Been-through-hell hallelujah
I’ll bring my storm-tossed, torn sail
Story to tell hallelujah”

No matter what we may be going through, God is and will remain loving and faithful, going through the struggle with us. He has always been faithful, stayed by our side during past hurt and heartaches, and there is no reason to believe He won’t be in the future.

Revelation 2:10 “Have no fear of the things which you will have to undergo: see, the Evil One will send some of you into prison, so that you may be put to the test; and you will have great trouble for 10 days. Be true to death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
