Simon Peter and his partners had fished all night but had caught nothing, yet at Jesus’ command their fishing nets filled with so many fish that the boats began to sink. As with all of Jesus’ miracles, this event can be understood on a deeper level.
These were rough seas, and Peter was willing to literally step onto them because He was looking at Jesus. That gave him confidence and courage. It went well for awhile until Peter started to sink. And why did he sink?
You would think that after the miracle of casting out demons from two men who had violently oppressed them, the people would have welcomed Jesus. But that is not what happened. Instead, they wanted Him to go away. Why? It was because Jesus was bad for business.
