A Prayer When You Wonder If God Still Loves You
By Rachel Wojo
Bible Reading:
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 8:35-39
Listen or Read Below:
I’ve had the privilege of days where God's love feels as real as the air I breathe. You too? But other days, we wonder if we've done something to push Him away. Maybe you've made mistakes that feel too big to forgive. Perhaps you've been walking through a season so dark that you question whether God really cares about your pain. Or maybe life has been so overwhelming that you've wondered if His love is strong enough to reach you where you are.
I've been there. After multiple losses and seasons of struggle, I've had moments where I wondered if I had somehow exhausted God's patience or love. There were nights I lay awake thinking, "Maybe I've pushed too hard this time. Maybe this is the breaking point where even God's love runs out." But I’m so thankful that what Paul wrote in Romans 8 tells me the complete opposite.
Paul doesn't give us a gentle suggestion about God's love; he gives us a bold declaration. He's convinced, absolutely certain, that nothing can separate us from God's love. Not trouble or hardship. Not our worst mistakes or our deepest failures. Not even our own doubts about His love can actually sever that connection.
Look at that list Paul provides. It's comprehensive and intentional. Death? Nope. Life's overwhelming demands? Can't do it. Spiritual forces we don't understand? They don't have that power. Our current circumstances or future fears? Not strong enough. Nothing in all creation, and that includes our past, our mistakes, our struggles, and our doubts, can separate us from God's love.
This isn't love that depends on our behavior or performance. This is love that pursues us, holds onto us, and refuses to let us go even when we're convinced we're unlovable. When you're tempted to believe that you've somehow fallen out of God's love, remember that His love isn't fragile. It's unbreakable, unchanging, and absolutely relentless as He pursues your heart.
Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for loving me with a love that cannot be broken or lost. When I'm tempted to believe that I've done something to push You away, remind me of this powerful promise in Your Word. Help me to grasp the depth and height and width of Your love that will never let me go. Lord, I confess that sometimes I measure Your love by my circumstances or my feelings. When things are hard, I wonder if You've stopped caring. When I mess up, I worry that I've exhausted Your patience. But Your love isn't based on my performance or my circumstances. It's rooted in Your unchanging character and the finished work of Jesus. Help me to live confidently in Your love today. When doubt whispers that I'm too far gone or too broken, let Your Spirit remind me that nothing can separate me from Your love. Not my past mistakes, not my current struggles, not my future fears. Your love is stronger than anything I face. Thank You that in all these things, I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me. Help me to walk in that victory today.
In Jesus' name, amen.
Thank you for joining me today. I pray this truth about God's unbreakable love has settled deep into your heart. Remember, nothing you've done or will do can separate you from His love.
