Hebrews 2:17

Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

Jesus lived as a man on earth!

Have you ever thought about why Jesus came into our world as a baby? Angels had appeared as full-grown men in the Old Testament. Why not come like that? The answer is that, unlike those angels, Jesus did not just appear to be human. He was fully human! He didn’t stop being God, but He chose to operate simply as a man, not depending on His divine abilities.

The miracles He performed, the things He did, were done in the power of the Father through the work of the Holy Spirit. As our verse today points out, in order to truly represent us as a man without sin, He couldn’t have an unfair advantage. “He had to be made like His brethren in all things…to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”

Jesus experienced all the realities of life as a person on earth. The misunderstandings, the irritations, the grief, along with the joy and laughter.
