Choose me!

Isaiah 6:8: Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" (NIV).

When Isaiah was given the opportunity to be used by God, he volunteered enthusiastically. His task was to warn the Israelites of God's impending judgment if they continued to disobey. But even before he started, God told Isaiah the nation would not heed his message and would end up reaping divine judgment. Talk about a tough job! God consoled Isaiah by telling him that there would be some individuals who would listen from whom God would save a remnant of faithful followers. Despite the fact that his message was very unpopular, Isaiah faithfully reflected God's character as he planted the seeds of truth and hope.

If you are a parent, God has called you to discipline your kids—a task that is sometimes unpleasant and often poorly received as well! Perhaps you can relate to Isaiah when your wisdom and sage advice seems to fall on deaf ears. But like Isaiah, we must continue to plant the seeds of God's truth and trust Him to reap the harvest in His perfect timing.

Be faithful to plant the seeds of God's truth and hope.
