Don’t Worry About What Others Think of You
By David Chadwick

Dad saw a weakness in me. I valued people’s opinions too much. They would think well of me, and I would feel encouraged. They would be critical of me, and I would experience sadness.

That’s why Dad took me aside once and spoke directly to me. “Son,” he said, “don’t worry about what others think of you. Believe me. They aren’t thinking about you much at all. They are too busy thinking about themselves.”

Dad was correct. Most people spend their time focusing on number one. If they ever do think about you, often it’s to put you down so they can lift themselves up.

My dad knew that people make lousy gods. And his directive helped set me free from the tyranny of people’s opinions of me.

I hope it does for you as well.
