Bridled Power
By David Chadwick

Husbands, if you want to honor your wives, as the Bible commands you to do (1 Peter 3:7), then become a man of God. Your wife desires above all for this to happen!

How can this be done? Practice bridled power.

What is bridled power? In Matthew 11:29, Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (NLT).

Jesus described himself as “humble and gentle at heart.” The Greek word used here is praus. Literally, it can be translated as “bridled power.” It’s the only adjective Jesus ever used to describe himself.

Imagine a wild stallion with a bridle around its neck. Though incredibly strong, the horse is under the control of the disciplined rider.

A true man of God possesses strengths and attributes. But they are all under the control of the Lord Jesus Christ. A husband’s gifts and passions are overseen by God.

When the wife sees this character quality, she feels honored. It’s what she desires most from her husband.

And the two increasingly become one flesh (Genesis 2:24).

Simplify your prayer life with three words

Prayer is vital to our spiritual health. It's so important that 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to “Pray without ceasing.” Yet we often find it difficult to follow that command. Relationships and responsibilities vie for our attention, and prayer often gets placed on the back-burner. But it’s possible to make 2019 your year of focused and increased prayer!

David Chadwick’s latest booklet, 3-Word Prayers, can help you do just that. It suggests a power-packed approach to prayer that cuts through life’s busyness. And, it’s as simple as 1-2-3—just trim your prayers to three words.
