"No Labor" Day
By: Rick Boxx
September 2, 2014

During dinner, my daughter, Bekah, said, "I don't understand Labor Day. It's called Labor day, but no one's doing any work."

I explained that it's a day our nation set aside to honor the early 1900s Labor movement. Unions were organized to overcome the oppression of sweat shops and forced child labor. We now take a day of rest and celebration in honor of their work.

In Genesis 2:2 we read, "By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work."

God didn't need the rest, yet he rested and celebrated His efforts, and He set aside time for us to do likewise. God knows the value of rest and celebrations. Do you?
