Convenient Jesus
By: Rick Boxx

Under the picture of Jesus, the caption read, If you need me, I am always here. Although I know the artists intent, it reminds me of how often I see Christ as merely a resource during times of need, rather than a model of a surrendered life.

A relationship with Jesus is not intended to be a convenient means of leaning on Him only during difficult times. Its a business model that is lived out daily, during the good and bad times.

Jesus shows us in Luke 9:23 that a relationship with him is not convenient, but costly. If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Today, seek to make Christ less convenient and more a way of life.
