Governmental Grief
By: Rick Boxx
October 27, 2011

As a young entrepreneur I purchased a sign for my car rental agency. During installation I learned that I needed a city permit to dig a simple trench for the wiring to light the sign, on top of the sign permit I had already purchased.

As a stingy business owner, I dug the trench and installed the sign without the permit. Had I been caught, the expense would’ve far exceeded my savings.

1 Peter 2:13-15 says, “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men…For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.”

My foolishness was against God’s desire and could have been costly. Even if the government is giving you grief, do God’s will and obey them.
