Strategic Gifts

In 2010, Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, made an incredible gift of $100 million to the Newark, New Jersey school system. According to a Wall Street Journal article, five years later there is no significant difference noted in the Newark school system!

The article concludes that the money would have been better spent on scholarships than to fund the salaries of a broken system.

Many philanthropists wish to be strategic with large gifts. This can be effective, but only if the strategy works. Sometimes money does more harm than good.

Matthew 6:33 teaches, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

For a large gift to have eternal significance, asking Jesus for the right strategy is a great start.
