Searching for Purpose-Through Prayer
By: Rick Boxx
November 13, 2013

While teaching a series on “calling” and purpose, I challenged the audience to ask God to reveal His plan for their vocations. The following week, an attendee named Anita shared with me how God had answered her prayers.

Anita was a legal secretary who enjoyed her work, but sensed that God might have more for her to do. After her prayers, Anita’s boss informed her that the firm believed she had a gift for training other legal secretaries.

Her firm decided to create a new position, and Anita was promoted to national training director for all of their legal secretaries.

Colossians 4:2 teaches, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

If you’re uncertain of God’s design for your vocation, consider devoting it to prayer. Then watch, wait and listen.
