The Young and Foolish

When I was a young and foolish 25-year-old, I read an article about a new business concept called “Rent a Wreck.” After leaving public accounting I was searching for my next career, so I started a used car rental agency.

Looking back, I heard only what I wanted to hear. When friends and bankers asked me tough questions, I had vague answers, but refused to listen and try to understand their perspective.

Although I learned a lot of valuable lessons through that car rental agency they were painful, costly and foolish lessons.

Proverbs 12:15 teaches, “The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.”

There will be naysayers for most ideas, but when you receive advice take time to listen and probe deeper for understanding.
