Love the Sinner
By: Rick Boxx
May 1, 2013

My wife, Kathy, and I interviewed Sheri, a high school coach and teacher, about her faith at work experiences. We discussed several students whom she loved despite their past poor decisions.

Kathy asked Sheri, “How hard is it to love these kids when they make such poor choices?”

Sheri’s response was profound. “I’ve learned,” she replied, “that I don’t have to condone their bad behavior to love them as a person. They’re still children of God.”

Jesus said in Luke 6:32, “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.”

In your workplace there are likely people participating in poor behavior. Remember to separate them as a person from their behavior. Love the sinner, but hate the sin.
