Messy Situations

A Harvard Business Review article referenced a CEO Genome Project study on leaders who became CEOs much faster than their peers. A key factor that worked to the benefit of 30% of these fast track leaders was inheriting a mess at work.

Early in my banking career I accepted a chief lending officer position at a troubled bank. This position was hard and scary at times and required great perseverance, but eventually led to a significant promotion to a much larger banking center.

James 1:4 teaches, “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Don’t be afraid to take on messy situations at work. With perseverance and God’s leading you will mature and be more likely considered worthy for the next assignment.
