The Pain of Consequences
By Rick Boxx
March 9, 2011
While teaching in prison, the pain of consequences sunk in as I spoke with a prisoner who looked troubled. When asked if he was okay, he choked up and said, “My father died this week and I wasn’t able to see him before he died, or attend the funeral.”
As I thought about the hurt for him and his entire family, it grieved me, but also gave me more resolve to obey the law.
Romans 13:2 teaches, “Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.”
Sin can come with painful consequences. May the fear of God’s judgment guard you from evil, and the grace of God, comfort you for your past sins.
