Honor Your Father

As the oldest of five children there were seasons when our family was growing and money was scarce. It was during those times that I remember my father’s determination to do whatever was necessary to provide for us.
He would come home from his assembly line job, change clothes, and leave again to be a gas station attendant or a school janitor. I have great respect for the sacrifices my father made for us!
Exodus 20:12 says, “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.”
This weekend, as we celebrate Father’s Day, I think I’ll remind my dad how highly I have regarded the work ethic he modeled. It’s a good day to honor fathers, grandfathers, and mentors.
