While standing in the aisle of a hardware store, Matt overheard two contractors seeking a solution to their problem. Empathizing with their situation, Matt spoke up, offering a suggestion that could help them solve their crisis.

Their brief acknowledgment to his suggestion indicated they weren’t interested in any outside help. Matt walked away knowing they were headed for a much bigger problem.

Pride, an unwillingness to listen to the advice of others, often prevents us from experiencing success and prosperity in our lives. Instead, it often brings destruction.

Proverbs 16:18 says “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”

The two contractor’s pride prevented them from seeing that their solution could have been found in the aisle of the hardware store, from the suggestion of a willing by-stander.
