I’m the Taxman

After being baptized by John the Baptist many wanted to know what was expected of them after their repentance. First, John gave them general directions about being generous and loving to others.

But some knew that if this new life John taught about was real, then they needed deeper instructions on applying their faith to their work.

In Luke 3 we read, “Even tax collectors came to be baptized. ‘Teacher,’ they asked, ‘what should we do?’”

“Don’t collect any more than you are required to,” John told them.

In that day tax collectors were known for extorting more money than was owed. Imagine the impact their changed business practices had on their customers!

What behavior or unethical act is common in your workplace that you can change for God’s glory?
