Democracy and Religion

A Harvard professor, Clayton Christensen, had a conversation with a Marxist economist from China. According to Christensen’s YouTube video, this Chinese economist claimed that the most surprising thing he learned in America is how critical religion is to the functioning of democracy!

While in America, this Marxist discovered that democracy only works if people voluntarily obey, and it’s through our churches that people have learned to follow the rules. He believes a higher commitment to the law happens due to our perceived accountability to God.

Deuteronomy 6:24 says, “So the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God for our good always and for our survival.”

In business, and in life, the fear of God is the core of true lasting integrity and a thriving democracy.
