Hands-On Faith for Families – Week of May 26, 2025

Focus on the Family presents a hands-on approach to teaching children about kindness and compassion through a fun family activity. By incorporating Bible verses, play, talk, and prayer, families can cultivate a culture of kindness that reflects God's love for others.

Hands-On Faith for Families – Week of April 28, 2025

Theme: Showing Kindness to Others

Scripture: Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:12)

Play: Before mealtime, have each family member gather five shirts. Any style will work. The idea is to have a stash of shirts to pull from.

As you prepare for dinner — setting the table, filling drinks, serving food — kindly offer to help one another with tasks. You may also compliment a task well done: “Wow, Mom! This smells great.” As you are kind to another member of your family, put on one of your shirts. The goal is to put on all your shirts.

Talk: Each shirt you put on was a symbol of kindness you showed to a member of your family. You were demonstrating the action of Colossians 3:12. In that verse, God tells us to clothe ourselves with kindness. As you did and said kind things, you were showing kindness that comes from God.

Pray: Thank God for your family and friends. Ask Him to help you always treat other people with kindness.
