Protection and Provision | Psalm 76:1-6
Today's Passage: Psalm 76:1-6
Key Verses: Psalm 76:1-4
God is renowned in Judah; in Israel his name is great. His tent is in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion. There he broke the flashing arrows, the shields and the swords, the weapons of war. You are radiant with light, more majestic than mountains rich with game.
It's time to sing a song of victory! It's time to rejoice and be glad that this is the day the Lord has made and given to us. God is at work. He has sustained us and provided for us. The roof over your head and the food you eat are reminders that God is on your side and fighting for you.
Asaph, the writer of this song, proclaimed the greatness of God who lived among his people and fought for them. The enemies' most powerful weapons of war were no match for the God of Jacob. He broke to pieces flashing arrows, shields and swords. With his word alone, he rendered the horse and chariot ineffective.
So…let's sing a song of victory! There will be more battles tomorrow. More enemies with come with their swagger; but let's thank God for today. He is at work in our lives. He is our constant sustainer and provider. He will always give us everything we need to do what he is calling us to do. You can't miss him. Just look toward the light.
Father, our prayers are too often filled with a list of requests. Today we thank you for who you are and how you work in real life. Thank you for a home that keeps us warm. Thank you for your provision of daily nourishment. Keep us looking toward you. May we always be encouraged by your work in our lives. In Jesus name. Amen.
