There's An App For That: How Do I Grow As A Christian? | 2 Peter 1:3
2 Peter 1:3
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
How Can I Grow as a Christian? Understand God’s power.
Are you struggling in your walk with Christ? You have trusted in him and desire to follow hard after him, but it feels like you are spinning your spiritual wheels. Here is what you need to know: All the strength and power that each of us needs to be the person God desires us to be is alive within us by God’s Spirit (John 14:16-18).
At the end of today’s passage, the phrase “knowledge of him” implies a personal relationship. God called us to himself “by his own glory and goodness.” By “his divine power he has given us everything we need for life and godliness!”
Far too many Christians believe they have been shortchanged. Everyone else got the faith, gifts, desire, and resources. They are like siblings who complain to their parents, “You always liked him better!” We have to understand God’s power. The Maker of Heaven and Earth lives in every believer through his Holy Spirit. We don’t have to spin our spiritual wheels. By God’s Spirit, we have everything we need to follow hard after him.
Father, don’t let us spin our spiritual wheels. By your grace, allow us to gain the traction to move into a more personal, more meaningful, relationship with you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
