Purposed to Praise
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1
It is interesting how memory retention and music work together. What seemed impossible to remember before can come to mind easily when it is put to music. Suddenly you are able to remember the ABCs, the Preamble to The Constitution, or that phone number you need from that commercial. If you are familiar with the music that is heard at Fellowship Church, you may recognize this verse from the Bible as a lyric to the song, Everlasting. Chances are, when you read this verse there was a tune that immediately came to mind.
When we utilize music to bring Scripture to song, something amazing happens. We aren’t just singing songs – we are praising and worshipping God. Songs of worship not only help us to retain Scripture, they also remind us of who God is. The song that features this verse reminds us of what He has done for us. Other songs remind us of who He is and who we are. Praising God by singing worship songs and remembering His promises activates our faith by helping us to declare our faith. Praise Him with singing today.
Thank God for reminding you of who He is, who you are and what He has done for you through music.
Familiarize yourself with some worship music. If you need to add some to your collection, just search for Fellowship Creative on iTunes. Now, don’t just listen to it – SING with it and Praise God with your voice.
