El Chapo’s End

Proverbs 3:31-32

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the Mexican drug lord, was escorted in handcuffs to a helicopter by Marines and deposited in the maximum-security Altiplano Federal Prison.  On July 11, 2015 he stepped into the shower, climbed down a ladder in a hole created for his escape, was escorted through a mile long tunnel equipped with electric lights and air, and escaped to re-establish his hold of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Alfred and Ivan, his sons, regularly use selfies to show the world the Lamborghinis, Porsches and Ferraris they drive and the gorgeous women they party with. They might seek the public eye, but their father ran for his life as Mexican authorities bore down. One thing is certain. He may continue trying to escape, but God will make sure he eventually will be caught.

In Proverbs 3:31-32  the wise father challenges young people everywhere not to buy into the allure of those luxurious selfies. The LORD still says that in the end crime doesn’t pay.

“Don’t envy a man of murderous violence. Don’t choose any of his ways. For this cunning man is detested by the LORD. On the other hand, the LORD takes those who walk in the straight way into His confidence.”

LORD, give the Mexican authorities skill to bring El Chapo  to justice. Destroy the power of the Sinaloa Drug Cartel who expanded their presence even during Guzman’s imprisonment. Awaken those who use the tons of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and MDMA smuggled across the border to the fact that they unite themselves with the violence destroying lives in both Mexico and the U.S.
