A Tiny Piece of God’s Footstool

Acts 7:48-50

The water only flows off the cliff to create Horse Tail Fall in Yosemite in the late winter and early spring if the temperature plays fair. Then around the third week in February --if the clouds do not block the light and if the sun sets at exactly the right angle—suddenly the crystal clear water falling more than 1500 feet turns into a fire fall of indescribable beauty.

As Stephen nears the conclusion of his defense before the Sanhedrin, he reminds anyone who is caught up into building and defending sacred places—places where they think they can contain God—of the words of Isaiah 66:1-2:

“But the Most High doesn’t live in hand made houses, as the prophet says:

Heaven is my throne, and the earth is a footstool for my feet.
What kind of house will you build for me? says the LORD.
Or where will my resting place be?
Hasn’t my hand made all things
?’   Acts 7:48-50

Nature worshipers live to see the rare glory of the fleeting golden Horsetail Fall. I pray LORD that you will use this glimpse reflecting a tiny fraction of your true glory and soften their hearts to want to meet Your Son and my heart to only worship you.
