Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. (Prov 22:6)
The apostle Paul tells us that God has been our Father since before the creation of the world, reinforcing the idea that we all need to parent well. But I think one of the greatest struggles parents have results from insecurities. And the truth is that anxious, insecure people don’t always make the best parenting decisions.
So, the Bible deals with the source of our insecurities by reminding us that God’s love and grace are available to us at all times! Once this assurance takes root in our hearts as parents, concerns for self-interest fade, and the security of our own relation with our heavenly Father frees us to parent our children wisely—and for their own good!
Be secure in your relationship with God today and share the assurances of God’s love and grace!
Prayer: Father, thank you for parenting me with love and grace. Please help me to be that kind of parent with my own children.
