Read: 2 Peter 1

Key Verse: “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.” 2 Peter 1:3

The apostle Peter wrote this letter to Christians who were enduring a tremendous amount of suffering and persecution. If you have ever been through a lot of pain, disappointment, and mistreatment, you might have started asking questions. Can I make it through this day? What quality of life is still available for me? What do I still have that I did not lose? Where is some hope? This powerful verse gives a real and encouraging perspective.

Notice some key principles packed into this text: 1) You will need to rely on God’s power, Spirit, and Word that far exceed your own effort. 2) Your peace is going to primarily come from knowing and experiencing Jesus in the middle of this trial. 3) God might not give you what you want, but He will provide what you need. 4) You will continue to taste His grace and goodness; no one can take that away. 5) God will be glorified through your testimony, so stay faithful. You are not overlooked or forgotten; keep walking by faith.
