Read: James 3

Key Verse: “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” - James 3:17

When was the last time you had a conflict with someone? How did you respond? Did your words and actions match this verse? It is easy to give this verse lip service, but God wants to do a deeper work in you. Read the verse several times and meditate on it. Memorize it if you have the time now. This passage of Scripture is very practical, and your relationships will greatly benefit when you live it!

Pure means no lying or exaggeration. Peace-loving brings gentle answers and gives up trying to ‘win’ in arguments. Considerate includes hearing the other person and entering into their perspective. Submissive is a willingness to serve the other person and value their preferences. Full of mercy is another way of saying to be quick to forgive. Sincerity and impartiality require you to avoid manipulation and deception. All of this is from heaven, and when you respond in this manner, it shows that you really trust God.
