Read: Ezra 10

Key Verse: “While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping and throwing himself down before the house of God, a large crowd of Israelites-men, women, and children-gathered around him. They too wept bitterly.” Ezra 10:1

The proverbial elephant in the room was the massive amount of sin amongst God’s people. Have you ever tried to cover-up your transgressions and act like everything was normal? How did you feel inside? There needed to be an awakening. Ezra, with a sincere heart, began to confess honestly to God. Ezra, as a spiritual leader, was pleading to God on behalf of the people. When others recognized what was happening and the truth of Ezra’s actions, they also joined in the repentance. A movement started.

It I often one person who is bold and shares their faith that stirs the hearts of other people. It is one person who begins the repentance. It is one person who says that we can accomplish the work by God’s grace, one person who enters fully into worship, and one person who forgives first. Be that one person, even if no one goes with you right away. When you are being faithful to God, it will have a ripple effect, often a strong current. Do what is right and do not wait for the crowd. Have the courage of Ezra and lead by example!
