Read: Micah 2

Key Verse: “If a liar and deceiver comes and says, ‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’ he would be just the prophet for this people!” - Micah 2:11

Micah’s message of a coming captivity mainly fell on deaf ears. The people were full of pride and indulgence. They did not perceive any danger and maintained full confidence in spite of their bad decisions. There were many false prophets who announced further prosperity. These misleading messages included more wine and beer! It was exactly what the people wanted to hear. Which message would be more popular today: Turn to Jesus quickly or more wine and beer?

Have you ever convinced yourself that something was good and healthy when it was not wise? How about the harmful use of drugs or alcohol? Making a major financial purchase without praying about it? Stubborn pride in a conflict? Selfish motives? Trying to live far away from God? A plan to cover-up errors? Financial prosperity that resulted because of your willingness to drop your integrity? A dating relationship? Micah clearly saw the results of rebellion and courageously called out the fallacies of his generation. Seek truth in your lifestyle and relationship decisions. Truth is the first step towards healing!
