Too Much Faith?
by Berni Dymet
Luke 5:20 When he saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven you.
A guy's paralyzed. Can't walk. And the Jesus mega-star tour rolls into town, crowds following him everywhere. And this guy's mates couldn't get the paralyzed man through the crowd. So they climbed up on the roof, ripped a hole in it and lowered him down on a stretcher.
Just think about that for a minute. The logistics. What would the crowds do, let alone the people who owned the roof that now had a hole in it. And what would Jesus think of this audacious queue-jumping stunt? Well - what did He think, what did He do?
(a) Shout at them and say "What do you think you're doing interrupting my sermon"?
(b) Laugh at their stupidity? or …
(c) Forgive the man his sins, heal him and send him out on his own two feet?
The answer's (c) right?! Jesus was astonished at their faith. Seems that Jesus never, ever, ever turned away anyone who came to Him with faith. No matter how outrageous that faith was.
