A Different Perspective - October 12

A Different Way

by Berni Dymet

Mark 10:21 Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, ‘You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.'

They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result. Pretty obvious isn't it? And yet that's exactly what we do.

We butt heads with the same guy at work every day as though that's going to make things better. Husbands and wives have the same arguments over and over again. We go round and round on that merry-go-round and wonder why the scenery never changes.

Answer? You have to get off for it to change. You have to take a step in a new direction and try new things - even if they're scary. Even if we really want to stay on that merry-go-round - because that's all we've ever known.

Jesus said "Follow me." Two simple words. But scary. So His disciples upped and followed Him. They went His way. They discovered a new way. They lost their old lives and He gave them new ones. Totally different from what they expected.

But here's the thing. It worked. "Follow me." Jesus.
