The Mental Munchies
by Berni Dymet
Isaiah 55:1-3 Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live.
I don't know about you - but around four or five in the afternoon, I get the munchies.
You know that feeling. Lunch seems like it was ages ago. And dinner - well it's still a way off. What's in the fridge? What's in the pantry?
And for someone like me who has to watch what he eats, it's so tempting you know to grab a packet of chips - full of salt and fat, or chocolate…..or something else that's no good for me.
You do that day after day, and there are consequences.
You know - I think it's the same with what we watch on TV.
I'm bored - what's on, you flick through the channels with the remote. Stop at whatever catches our eyes. But there's so much stuff out there - if we feed our minds and our hearts and our souls with that stuff - well, there are consequences.
I know - in this "anything goes" kind of world, it's not a very trendy thing for me to say.
Tough, it's true. We feed ourselves with that junk - there are going to be consequences.
So many people yearn for a better life, which is why "self-improvement" is a multi-billion dollar industry. But the truth is, it doesn’t work, because the big changes, the truly important changes, are impossible to achieve on your own. That’s why Jesus came. So if you want to lay hold of the “super-abundant” life that He promised (John 10:10) download this free eBooklet, because that’s what it’s all about. The change you’ve been looking for!
