² For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

² For anyone who speaks in a tongue[1] does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.

² For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth [2] him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

² If you praise him in the private language of tongues, God understands you but no one else does, for you are sharing intimacies just between you and him.
