The LORD's Faithfulness to Israel

991 Jehovah reigneth: let the peoples tremble. He sitteth [between the] cherubim: let the earth be moved. 2 Jehovah is great in Zion, and he is high above all the peoples. 3 They shall praise thy great and terrible name,—it is holy!— 4 And the strength of the king that loveth justice. Thou hast established equity: it is thou that executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob. 5 Exalt Jehovah our God, and worship at his footstool. He is holy!

Commentary on Psalm 99:1-5

(Read Psalm 99:1-5)

God governs the world by his providence, governs the church by his grace, and both by his Son. The inhabitants of the earth have cause to tremble, but the Redeemer still waits to be gracious. Let all who hear, take warning, and seek his mercy. The more we humble ourselves before God, the more we exalt him; and let us be thus reverent, for he is holy.
