Rejoicing in Justice Now and Later

Animage of beach at sunset, a person stands on a rock with their arms raised.

Make no mistake, no matter how much evil and oppression exist on earth, the Lord will eventually give justice to the oppressed. He will lift up the needy and right the wrongs that have been done to those who have been treated unfairly, punishing those who care nothing for justice.  Before the end of the world, when perfect justice will be rendered to all, we have the chance to be used by God to fulfill this promise. Let’s do what God is calling us to do. And let’s rejoice every time we see a poor person lifted out of poverty, an immigrant succeeding, or a single mother getting the help she needs because these are intimations of what is to come.

Promises in Scripture

The LORD gives righteousness
and justice to all who are treated unfairly. Psalm 103:6

He gives justice to the oppressed
and food to the hungry.
The LORD frees the prisoners.
The LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down.
The LORD loves the godly.
The LORD protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
Psalm 146:7-9

Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father's Kingdom. Matthew 13:43

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16
