7 Ways to Celebrate Godly Fathers This Father’s Day

1. Create a Video Tribute

1. Create a Video Tribute

Creating videos has never been easier using free online tools and social media platforms. Gather a collage of photos and set them to your dad’s favorite song to celebrate his life. Stream the video to your television for larger viewing and invite the whole family to watch.

Add graphics with written messages and Bible verses to make your video even more meaningful. This will be a gift he can enjoy throughout the year, or anytime he needs a boost of encouragement.

Here are even more ideas for your Father’s Day video:

  • Add funny sayings or quotes.
  • Include photos from your father’s younger years.
  • Add captions including dates, places, and memorable moments.
  • End your video with a short prayer of blessing, such as Numbers 6:24-26, which says, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

2. Give a Gift to Build His Faith

Is there a unique Study Bible or set of Spiritual growth books your dad has been wanting? Father’s Day is a great time to give him resources to build his faith. Here are a few popular ones to consider:

Rooted: The NIV Bible for Men

NKJV Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible

The Measure of a Man: Twenty Attributes of a Godly Man

Boot Camp: Equipping Men with Integrity for Spiritual Warfare

Include a Bible verse inside the front cover to make this gift even more meaningful. Here are some verses to include:

Jeremiah 29:11For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

3. Encircle Him in Prayer

Imagine celebrating your father by encircling him in prayer. What an excellent way to honor him as the Spiritual leader of your family! Plan a time on Father’s Day to gather around and offer words of blessing. Here are some prayer prompts to help:

“Lord, thank You for my dad, who has passed on his legacy of faith. Bless him and keep him in the days ahead.”

“Lord, please bless my dad with good health, an abundance of wisdom, and true joy.”

“Lord, whatever my dad sets out to do, bless him and keep him as he lives for You.”

Take this special time to let your father know how he has been an example of faith to you. Thank him for his sacrifice and tell him how much you appreciate him. This will be one Father’s Day he won’t forget!

4. Frame His Favorite Scripture

Do you know what your dad’s favorite Bible passage is? Consider framing it for his home office or workplace. Many Etsy sellers offer personalized prints, but if you’re extra creative, here’s a tutorial for turning a paper print into a fabric tapestry.

If you don’t know what your dad’s favorite verse is, consider these motivational Scriptures:

Psalm 16:8 “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

5. Make a Memory Book of His Faith Journey

Chances are, your dad has achieved many milestones in becoming the man he is today. Making a memory book of his faith journey is a fantastic way to celebrate him and remind him of God’s work in his life. Here are several memories to include:

  • His childhood church and youth group experiences
  • The date he committed his life to Christ (his testimony)
  • College or young adult groups that spurred his faith
  • Mission trips and community service projects
  • Deacon or eldership roles
  • Marriage and/or personal retreats
  • Family faith traditions

When putting your father’s memory book together, be as creative as you like. Consider adding stickers, mementos, newspaper clippings, and anything else you can think of. This will be a memorable keepsake he’ll cherish for many years to come.

6. Plant a Tree in His Honor

For the dad who enjoys landscaping and loves being outdoors, consider planting a tree in his honor. Make it a family project by going to the nursery, letting Dad pick the type of tree, and working together to plant it in a prominent place.

Consider adding a plaque underneath with Psalm 1:3 (NKJV), which says, “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”

As the tree grows, you’ll be reminded of your father’s legacy passed on from generation to generation, as Psalm 145:4 says, “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.”

7. Give Him a Day of Rest

Most dads work hard to provide for their families both physically and spiritually. Celebrate your dad by giving him a full rest day without any obligations. Let him decide how he wants to spend it at home or away. Here are a few ideas to make his day as restful as possible:

  • Pack a picnic basket with a hearty lunch and send him on his way for a day of fishing and relaxing in nature.
  • Buy tickets for him and a buddy to attend a local sporting event.
  • Plan a movie day complete with popcorn and cold sodas. Let him pick the movies!
  • Treat him to a massage or foot rub.

Godly Fathers deserve to be celebrated, as their hard work and sacrifice often go unnoticed. So choose this Father’s Day to let your dad know how valuable he is. Make this year a stand-out year in honor of your father’s legacy.

A Father’s Day Prayer: Please bless my dad for being a Godly man of faith. He has shown us what it is like to be a man after your own heart, and I am truly grateful for his example. Help him feel loved, appreciated, and honored this Father’s Day. We are blessed beyond belief that we get to call him “Dad.” Bless him with many more years to serve You, in Jesus’ name, amen.
