10 Trending Worship Songs to Help Us Kick Off 2026

"A thousand generations, falling down in worship, to sing the song of ages to the Lamb." Sometimes, we all need a reminder that God is good and He is holy forever. No matter what is happening in our world, He deserves our praise. His name is the highest, greatest, and truly is above all names. That's a reason to celebrate.

"Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine. He's been my fourth man in the fire, time after time. Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood, and what He did for me on Calvary is more than enough." One of my favorite parts about this song is the line, "He's been my fourth man in the fire, time after time." Why? Because all of us have felt like Daniel and his friends, thrown into the fiery furnace. Today, we probably haven't been in a physical fire, but we know what it's like to face fiery circumstances. But even there, God's presence is with us. He's truly that fourth man in the fire, God *with* us.

I know a name that can silence the roaring waves. I know a name that can empty out a grave. I know a name, it's the only name that saves. And it's worthy of all praise." If we truly believe the lyrics of that song are true, then we can rejoice that we do know a Name. And not just any name, but the name of Jesus that can transform, change, and restore our lives.

"It's so good, I almost can't believe it. Far beyond what hearts could ever dream. The God who set the galaxies in motion would descend to give His life for me." One of the most beautiful attributes of the Lord is His love for us as human beings. It's impossible to fully comprehend it, but that love is something you and I don't deserve. Not only did Jesus give His life for us, but He also gave us the ability to love.

The good news about Jesus is that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And He will never let you down. That's why He alone is our firm foundation. Nothing else can compare, and He will keep us stable even if and when our world is shaking.

"I was a wretch, I remember who I was. I was lost, I was blind, I was running out of time. Sin separated, the breach was far too wide, but from the far side of the chasm, you held me in your sight." Daily, we need a reminder that we need Jesus to be saved. Without Him, we were sinners lost and blind to death. While this picture is grim, it's true. I never want to take the gift of Jesus' life for granted because He died so I could live. No matter what we are walking through, His blood is something to be grateful for.

"All my words fall short. I got nothing new. How could I express all my gratitude? I could sing these songs, as I often do. But every song must end, and you never do. It felt fitting because marriage is a gift, but also because I will never be able to give the Lord enough gratitude for who He is and all He's done for me. Our words will surely fall short, but He deserves our praise.

If one song matched much of what is recorded in the book of Revelation, it would be this song. Is He Worthy not only reminds us to praise God, but to be encouraged that He alone is the light breaking into the darkness. Our world is broken, and creation is groaning, but He is the Lion of Judah who has come to our rescue both now and forevermore.

Even and especially when we don't feel like praising God, this is a reminder to be honest with the Lord and keep on singing.

The lyrics of this song are just one example of why. Often, we all need a reminder to look up when we're feeling overwhelmed. Not only is God with us through it all, but He helps us put our hearts back together in a way no one else can.

These top ten songs may or may not be your jam, but they remind us that worship has the immense and beautiful power to reorient the soul. Singing truth, even when feelings lag behind our faith, can actually strengthen us in the storm and prepare us for the future. 

Just like Paul and Silas singing from a prison cell (Acts 16), we're encouraged to give a mighty shout to the loud, no matter where we are or what we're experiencing. This isn't an invalidation of what we're feeling, but the ability to tell God our circumstances, and then tell our circumstances who our God is. 

If you're looking for a new and fresh way to use worship intentionally this next year, look no further than some lessons from the Psalms:

-Learn to lament. Express how you're really feeling to God and cry out.
-Begin your morning by playing a worship song while you get ready. Sing out loud your praises to Jesus.
-Worship during times of anxiety. I know this is hard, but worship, even if all you can say is "Lord, help."
-Make it a practice to worship as a family. Designate times to worship together through song, or remember that while music is wonderful, worship can be anything we do to bring glory and honor to God. 

A Prayer to Prepare Our Hearts for Worship

Dear Jesus,
While worship doesn't change our circumstances, it does change our posture. Teach us how to worship you today in body, mind, and spirit, and bless the year ahead, no matter what it looks like. Teach us to look to you in times of abundance and need, knowing you are with us always. We love, praise, and thank you, Jesus.
Amen.
